BIAS Press release

The Lancashire club are in severe financial trouble and face the prospect of going out of business at the end of the season. BIAS feels that this is an idealopportunity to show solidarity amongst football supporters at this crucial time for many clubs.

BIAS Chairman Pete Johnston said:

"This is a massive match for both clubs, both the Bees and The Shakers have off the pitch problems yet both need maximum points from this game for vastly different reasons. We can't afford any charity on the pitch but we are keen to help another club in serious trouble off it. Who knows, it may be us seeking help next time, and this is an opportunity for us to do our bit."

The Gigg Lane club are offering seats in the stadium for sale at £10 a throw in a bid to raise revenue and keep the club afloat.

BIAS has been in contact with Bury FC and has encouraged a bucket Collection in the Bees section of the stadium. BIAS also suggests that Bees fans may like to take up the pre-match package on offer from the Shakers - £25 for lunch in the club restaurant, which includes entry to the match.

BIAS Secretary Barry Pain added: "We see this as a vital match and we will look forward to having our usual excellent travelling support. However, we would like to urge as many extra Bees fans as possible to make the trip to Gigg Lane. We are especially appealing to fans who may not normally travel to away games. Every £15 paid on the turnstile is vital to Burys' survival and if we could take, say, 1,000 fans to the match then it is a significant contribution to a fellow club in trouble."

Bury FC Press Officer Gordon Sorfleet added: "We are in a desperate situation. It looks as though we will beat the deadline set by the administrator. We are fully committed to starting next season. We need supporters of all clubs that are visiting Gigg Lane to come en masse. The response we have had from many football supporters from every club in the country has been staggering. Brentford supporters are in there amongst them and the response from Bee's fans has been superb. We cannot thank you enough."
