Two defeats in two games before yesterday had left many Brentford fans thinking that a play off place was clearly beyond them and that the great escape was not to be in 04/05.
However yesterday the red and whites showed what they can do against top level teams as did the Fa Cup games against Southampton, we haven't displayed that kind of quality with any consistency in the 2nd half of the season.
At 2-1 up during the game the Bees were heading 4th and the play offs looked to be coming to Griffin Park, but as the score changed from 2-1 up to 4-2 down, our position looked as precarious as ever, despite all that though the fact remains that it is in our own hands, a victory in any one of our last games will surely mean that the Bees will get a crack at the lottery that is the play offs, despite being majorly off form all the teams around us are playing just as badly. Martin Allen and the boys will be hoping to secure their birth in the end of season show piece in Wales during the week as even though they are already promoted Hull are unlikely to roll over and let us beat them.
The boss should be commended for his interviews in the last week, he knows that the last 3 games have been well below the expected standard but he refuses to panic and takes a phylosophical view on games which I think drifts through to the team and heads have not gone down despite results not going our way throughout April, let's hope the boys can pick themselves up for the final few games and put the last months disapointing results behind them.
