Allen tells it like it is

Understandably emotional after the goings on in recent days at Griffin Park Martin Allen finally had time to put pen to paper on a message to the Brentford fans.

Summing up their season as a 'success' and a 'rollercoaster ride' Allen stated that he was extremely proud of that the players had achieved.

Looking to set up for next season Allen has had a tough two days reorganising his playing squad and stated,

"Looking back overall it has been a teriffic season. When we set out at the start if you had said we'd be third then everyone would have been delighted. But I must admit I do feel disapointed that we never managed automatic promotion"

He said,

"It's been a busy week with lots of difficult decisions to make and a lot of decisions that had to be put on hold until I know what the budget is going to be for next season."

Pleased with his players reaction to several setbacks such as the defeat to Charlton in the FA Cup, the fixture pile up and the sale of striker DJ Campbell Allen said,

"Most definately anxiety crept in, mistakes made us feel doubly worse, points were dropped and it felt like the walls were caving in, but we kept going."

Refusing to make excuses and complain about poor decisions or injuries Allen said,

"Now the show must go on. I met all the staff on Monday to discuss our playing staff and our players contracts, and we have all been busy contacting agents and players planning for next season"

For Brentford fans this is great news as it is the biggest hint yet that the manager has no intention to leave the club, following speculation about his future.
