Brentford today surrendered their twelve game unbeaten league and cup run at home today as they were beaten 2-0 by a rampant Colchester team.

Goals in either half from Mark Yeates sealed the game as Brentford dropped more points at home.

A dissapointed Griffin Park gave it's thoughts as an excellent year for the Bees ended in disapointing style.

What the manager said?

Despite his disapointment at defeat Allen refused to get carried away,

"Ok, so we've lost a game. We weren't expecting to go for the rest of the season unbeaten but we can only hope the defeat doesnt hurt our chances of promotion."

He also refused to blame the players after a rather lacklusture showing,

"I think the four games in eight days has finally taken it's toll, they looked more sprightly than we did. We can only hope that the Bradford game will bring us so New Year cheer"

Speaking on the Year as a whole Martin said,

"I think this year has been a watershed for Brentford FC not just on the pitch but off it as well. We're making steps forward to improve and we hope that in 2006 we can take that extra step."

What the players said?

As they strolled off the pitch to a chorus of boos and cheers the Brentford players took time out to aplaud the support they have recieved in 2005. Speaking to us Jay Tabb said,

"We're disapointed that we couldnt get a victory today. I felt we had enought chances to get all three points but we just couldn't find that crucial opening."

Stuart Nelson echoed the thoughts of the young Irishman stating,

"They scored early and that was always going to make the game difficult for us. We couldn't find a way through, no matter how hard we tried. Sometimes you just get games like that."

Kevin O'Connor also told us,

"We want to say thanks to the fans for their excellent support this year. It's a shame we couldnt provide a victory, I think that would have been a fitting send off for us in what has been a teriffic 12 months."

What the fans said?

Clive Western said,

"We were disapointing today there is no disguising that. Something we've got to work on is our home form against the lesser fancied sides, we seem to turn up and think we can win. Well it's not always as easy as that."

Away fan Fiona Mathis said,

"It's all worthwhile when you make a trip like this and get three points, Im not sure we deserved all the points today as Brentford played well but we've been impressive in recent matches and prehaps it was our day today."
