Season preview - Part IV
Last updated : 02 August 2005 By Smallsy
How did you fare last season? Best moment, worst moment etc.
Crap, went down with the worse ever points total, and broke god knows how many records for the club, for all the wrong reasons!! We didnt even manage a Saturday home win! Best Moment has to be beating Dirty Leeds, how the hell they didnt score against us is a mystery, they hit the woodwork about 8 times in the 2 games
How do you think you'll do this season? Hopes, final position.
I'll take mid-table, if we manage the play-offs I'll be delighted, just as long as we stop the Rot.
3) What's your squad like, new signings, etc?
6 out and 5 in to date, all the 6 out were in their 30's and they've been replaced with younger players, on lesser wages as well.. It's a little early to talk about the squad just yet as we've had no pre-season games, but its looking younger and more hungry.
4) Which youngster will make the biggest impression in your team this season?
Its a big season for Will Hoskins, a young striker that burst onto the scene only to dissapear from it again. If he can start knocking some goals in and generally bulk himself up then he could make a shirt his.
5) What's your manager like and will he still be there at the end of the season?
Mick Harford, well hes brand new just about. Came in during March but we was already down by then, if hes not here come next May then we're really in the mire!! He seems a calm, honest man, knows what he wants and so far seems to be getting it. I wouldnt like to cross him!!
6) Are you happy with your Chairman/Backroom staff?
They're fans who were part of the Supporters Trust, they took over from the previous chairman of 18 years at the turn of the year. Although they have limited funds, and they have said this from the start, they have started to bring Rotherham United into the 21st century. A new main stand will be built and should be ready for Febuary. So far what they have said they'll do they have delivered.
7) Which team do you want to beat the most and why?
Donny Rovers, they hate us!! Although theres a lot of local derbys for us this season, so obviously I'd want to beat the Dngles (Barnsley), Chesterfield, Bradford and Huddersfield. Not forgetting Oldham, not because theyre local, but just dont want to lose to Ronnie Moore's new team as some of our fans just will not let it go that he's gone.
8) Predict your champions and runner up, the 4 Play-Off teams and the 4 to go down.
Champs Bristol CityRunner Up, Forest.P/O Huddersfield, Brentford, Tranmere and Walsall.Relegated, MK Dons, Scunny, Port Vale and Swindon.
