Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte has revealed he would like to work with Christian Eriksen again in the future.
Conte signed Eriksen for Inter from Spurs in January 2020 and they won the Serie A title together last year prior to the Italian's high-profile exit from San Siro.
Eriksen's Inter deal was mutually terminated in December as Italian rules stated he would not be allowed to play with an ICD fitted. After receiving a number of offers to return to the game, he signed for Brentford on an initial six-month deal on January deadline day.
Conte opened the door for Eriksen to train at Spurs last month in a bid to help with his recovery, and has insisted that he would like to work with the Dane again in the future.
When asked if he had considered signing Eriksen in January, Conte said: "No, honestly no.
“For sure, Eriksen is part of Tottenham’s story and to come back here could be a good opportunity for me, him and the club,” Conte said.
“I am the first person to be happy to see him again on the pitch. We spent a good time at Inter, we won the league and we spent two important seasons together and I wish him the best. You don’t know what can happen in the future. It’d be good for me to have him again and work together.”
"I was surprised about the situation because in my mind, honestly, I thought Christian needed more time before coming back to play in England.
"But now he’s signed for Brentford. Only six months, and we’ll see what happens.
"And you don’t know what will happen. It would be good for me to have him again, to work together again."
Eriksen spent six-and-a-half seasons in north London after signing from Ajax in 2013, becoming one of the Premier League's best midfielders and becoming a key cog under Mauricio Pochettino.
After the 2019 Champions League final, Eriksen admitted he wanted a new challenge and wanted to leave Tottenham, eventually sealing his move to Italy midway through the following season.
