Bees boss bemoans 'bad luck'

Seeing his side draw yesterday in front of an expectant Griffin Park, Brentford manager Scott Fitzgerald refused to wave the white flag in his clubs bid to stave off League One relegation.

With all the clubs around them dropping points, Brentford looked nailed on to claim their first win in five games but were denied by a penalty awarded in the last minute.

Despite clawing their way a point closer to Cheltenham above them, Brentford now face an even steeper gradient of task if they are to be present in League One again next year.

Fitzgerald was however pleased with his players efforts and refused to blame them for not collecting three points,

"The buck stops with me and I don't have a problem with that."

The manager refused to hide from criticism he may be in for and said,

"I pick the side and its tactics and we're not winning enough games.

"Whatever mistakes we make we get punished for. To concede straight after we scored leaves me lost for words. "

"We got a performance but didn't get the result. I'd rather take bad performances and win."
