Bees will not have to replay Pool match

Seasiders chairman Karl Oyston has officially responded in written form to a League panel investigating the matter, after complaints from Brentford's promotion rivals Reading and Brighton.

The Gazette can reveal that a Football League board meeting is being held at its London offices in seven days to decide if Pool are guilty or not.

If they find against the Seasiders the League has the power to hit the club with a fine or, at worst, deduct points, though this course of action appears highly unlikely.

"The response from Blackpool arrived at our offices at the weekend," a League spokesman said.

"We were originally hoping to make a decision sooner but we have now decided that the matter will be discussed at a meeting of the board of directors next Wednesday.
"The match will certainly not be replayed. That is not an option. But there is a possibility that Blackpool could face some sort of action, though nothing has yet been decided and won't be until after the meeting."

The league investigation follows Pool's decision to rest nine players in the Division Two clash against Brentford on March 19, a match they lost 3-1.

Reading boss Alan Pardew publicly criticised the team selection and complained to the League. Top of the league Brighton also made an official complaint, although they were unhappy at the scheduling of the match rather than the team picked.

Pool chairman Karl Oyston has strenuously denied allegations of any wrong doing and his official response is now in the hands of League officials.
