Bees manager Martin Allen today thanked the Brentford fans for their support after his side booked a play-off place with a last minute strike from Scott Fitzgerald.
Three straight defeats had raised questions over whether his Brentford side had the bottle to make it to the play-offs after being there or thereabouts all season but the 'gaffer' thanked the faithful fans for their excellent support throughout the season.
Speaking to teamtalk.com Allen said,
"This was as much for them as it was for the players. They have backed me all season and I am delighted that we still have a chance of going up."
He added,
"I asked for a little bit extra from the players at half-time and they gave it to me. It's been tough on them this season, to cope with so many matches.
"It's been asking a lot of them but maybe now I can give a few of them a break. Our next aim is to get to Cardiff then go on to win promotion."
