The busy week at Griffin Park continued tonight with the showpiece event as Brentford entertained Leyton Orient in honour of Orient coach Andy Scott who is a former Bees player, sadly Scott had to retire from the game in March after being diagnosed with the heart condition which killed Marc Vivien Foe during the Confederations Cup in 2003.

Scott was a popular player at both clubs and managers of the two felt it was only right that a game was played in his honour at the end of his last playing season.

Around 2,000 people packed into Griffin Park to witness tonight game which Brentford won 2-0 in front of their home crowd, wearing their new shirt. The Bees continued to impress with some great passing throughout the game and some excellent team play which os likely to impress Martin Allen.

The Bees started with a 4-4-2 formation with the pairing of new signings Owusu and DJ Campbell upfront, a midfield of Isaiah Rankin, Brooker, Skulason and O'Connor, with the goal being protected by Bankole who played in front of Frampton, Turner, Dobson and Sodje who made his first appearence in pre season.

The game started at a slow pace, in typical fashion with nobody wanting to make a mistake, as the game started to get going, more passes were being misplaced and and the game quicked with the Bees beginning to shut the O's down with some tackles.

it was Orient however who had the first chance with Joe Keith having a free kick deflected into the keepers hands, the basketball style game then went from end to end with Keith once more going close and the impressive Brooker hitting the post after a one-two with DJ Campbell.

Michael Turner was then called into action to clear off the line and Bankole made a smart save from Keith and Echanomi who looked like Orient's biggest threat. Alexander then wasted a chance which he should have burried before the Bees started to gain the momentum.

O'Connor then came close as he became the second man to hit the Orient post and Brooker went close twice after some good interplay with Campbell, one effort then needed to be cleared off the line by an Orient defender was Campbell rounded the visitors keeper but couldnt force the ball over the line.

Neither side managed to take any of their chances until after the break when Campbell after being put through by Owusu within seconds of the second half beginning found the net when clean through with the Orient goalkeeper, a confident finish from a player who has looked to be a good signing from Yeading.

The Bees then grew in confidence and the momentum shifted solidly their way, first Owusu then Campbell twice had chances to make the game safe, however some confient goalkeeper kept the score down.

Echanomi who had been winning everything for the O's then won a penalty when he was brought down by Oli Skulason after a clumsy challenge. The man himself stepped up to take the kick but his weak effort was saved by Bankole.

The contest was then repeated as Bankole this time saved from Echanomi header which he was well positioned for. As the game began to fizzle out, both sides made changes making full use of their squads.

With brentford happy to keep the ball gaps began appearing in the O's backline and some bad defending eventually deflected the ball to Osborne who had just come on as a substitute and with his second touch slammed the ball high from 25 yards into the top corner leaving Morris the keeper stranded.

An excellent way to round off an entertaining match, a great work out for the Bees squad who continue their preparation for the League season with a game against Premiership Charlton this weekend.
