After being put in permenant charge yesterday, Scott Fitzgerald and his players headed to Carlisle this morning for their first test under his official stewardship.
Today not only marked the first day of his 'official' reign but coincided with his first decision now that he has been placed in sole control of the club. With the club reporting yesterday that Fitzgerald has ready made plans for the January transfer window, the manager announced that Clyde Winjhard has been released from his contract a couple of weeks early, indicating that Fitzgerald is looking to try a fresh approach in the new year.
Speaking to the official website Fitzgerald said,
"It (his contract) was due to expire shortly but as I did not intend to extend it I felt it was best to release him early."
"I would like to thank Clyde for his efforts whilst with us and wish him all the best for the future."
