Brentford manager, Wally Downes, aware of the need for an experienced striker, has revealed his disappointment at being unable to secure the services of the much travelled, Dirk Lehmann.
Speaking to Tony Flood of the Hounslow Guardian, the Bees' manager said,
"It’s very frustrating, but that’s the way it goes. Lehmann was recommended to us by his agent, but then he got this offer from Japan."
The 31-year-old ex-Fulham, Hibernian and Motherwell striker, had trialed at Griffin Park for a week, and netted in one of Brentford's behind-closed-doors friendlies against Millwall, before jetting off to earn a lucrative six month contract with Japanese club, Yokohama Marinos.
