Sad footballing news today as former Brentford player Ron Greenwood passed away after a series of long running illnesses. Ron died in his Suffolk home this morning.
The former Brentford man managed the national team between 1977 and 1982 retiring after the nations exit in the Spanish World Cup that year. As a player he had spells at Griffin Park as well as Chelsea, Fulham and a management spell at another West London club, West Ham.
Martin Allen led tributes this morning saying,
"Everybody at Brentford football club extend their heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends on the loss of a true gentleman and a footballing great."
