Speaking to the official website this afternoon Scott Fitzgerald admitted a 'more positive mood' after the last few days of intensive training for his Brentford squad.
The caretaker boss' reign got off to a bit of a poor start last weekend as he saw his side defeated 2-0 by Cheltenham before Saturday's result's left Brentford second bottom of the League One table.
After a heavy workout and a 'back to the drawing board' approach, Fitzgerald spoke today about his side's last few days efforts,
"The players have worked very hard through the week. They've been doing a lot of physical work and their attitude throughout has been fantastic."
With no game this weekend because of their elimination from the FA Cup Fitzgerald said,
"On Saturday the players will be at home on a recovery day with the heart rate monitors, but they will be back at training on Sunday afternoon as we prepare for Tuesday nights game at home to Doncaster."
"Alan Reeves who has been assisting me this week and I will be travelling to Mansfield tomorrow to watch our opponents in the FA Cup."
Fitzgerald was also able to give some injury updates and said,
"We've had the results back of Stuart Nelson's scan and unfortunately he's got ligament damage which will keep him out of action will the New Year."
"However with regrard to Callum and Lloyd it's better news. Both of them have completed a week's training and Callum is now able to take part in an eleven a side contact match. It's positive news for us with both of them getting fitter by the day."
