Griffin Park in it's current state, there is a pitch under there somewhere we hope!
Last week we brought you news of the wonderful job which Brentofrd FC's Head Groundsman Tom Stobbart was doing, with the pitch in terrible condition Tom was attempting to resurect the pitch before the Bees face Leyton Orient in August.

However the official website reports to today that Tom is leaving Griffin Park on July 8th to start a new job working as estate manager at the Royal Windsor Racecourse. The 27 year old has been a member of staff at the club for four years and told the site that,

"I felt it was time to move on, my main qualifications are forestry and woodland maintenance and my experience of turf management led me into this oppertunity."

Tom continued by saying,

"I wasn't really a football fan before i started working at Brentford but I havebeen grateful to have some insight into what goes on in the world of football behind the scenes, i'd just like to say thanks to everyone for making me feel so welcome and for their support, my time here has been unforgettable"

With work set to continue by Tom's team during the summer, he told us about the latest work taking place on the Griffin Park pitch,

"The covers come off in the next few days, ready for some light repairs and a mowing. The weather has been so kind after the last couple of weeks, development in the 'bad' areas is looking great. I'm sure my team will continue to work as hard as I would have done i'd id have been staying, fear not, the Griffin Park pitch will be new and improved come August!"
