Peters has been rumoured to be signing for the last week or so, but the club confirmed the deal, if the player passes a fitness test next week.
Mark Peters is a teenage and is on the books of Southampton.
The 18 year old Frimley born striker has been a prolific scorer for The Saint's Academy sides and has been top scorer for Southampton's Under 17 side for the past two seasons and netted 32 goals in just eighteen academy appearances in 2000-01.
The registration is expected to be completed on Monday.
The Official Southampton site says "He was billed as a great hope for the future but has failed to live up to his potential and is now in need of a fresh start. "The forward from Farnham would have been released at the end of the season so when Brentford came in, Saints decided to let him go. But they have insisted on a sell-on clause if he moves on from Griffin Park. Under 19's coach Stewart Henderson said: "It is very disappointing in many ways as we thought he might be one for the future. He scored goals for fun at junior levels but struggled to have the same impact as he moved up through the ranks.
"He was perhaps not as focused as he was and as he needed to be and it was our decision to let him go. We would have released him anyway so at least this way we get a percentage if he is sold which we would not have done if we had released him.
"It may be that he will come good again. I hope he grasps this chance but he probably needs a fresh start. If he matures he might do a decent job there."
