While Liverpool hosting Manchester City was unquestionably the headline fixture of the weekend, plenty of other games held at least some intrigue.
It's a shame they didn't quite pan out like that, however, as Premier League fans were treated to a handful of low scores, a good few draws and Aston Villa inexplicably being on television again.
Thank God then that we only have to wait until Tuesday for some more Barclays. To help bridge the gap, here are seven of the best goals from this week's action headlined by the incomparable Mohamed Salah.
1. Mohamed Salah vs Man City
Where else to start but here? What a ball out from Alisson and what a turn by Mo Salah, who gives Joao Cancelo the Zanussi treatment on maximum spin speed. Given the stakes at hand, this is probably a contender for goal of the season.
2. Declan Rice vs Southampton
Gianluca Scamacca and Lucas Paqueta both had decent chances at St. Mary's but it was up to West Ham skipper Declan Rice to earn his side a point. Rice plays a little one-two with Said Benrahma before curling into the far corner. Sumptuous.
3. Bukayo Saka vs Leeds United
His teammate Gabriel Jesus missed a glorious chance from a similar angle earlier in the game; Bukayo Saka made no such mistake. You could say it was the fault of the rather erratic Illan Meslier in goal but really he had no chance as Saka leathers it into the roof of the net on his weak foot. Great finish.
4. Dominic Solanke vs Fulham
This goal is all about the combination play between Philip Billing and Dominic Solanke, who lead a devastating counter-attack only a minute into Bournemouth's draw against Fulham. Wonderful movement and a finish to match. Gary O'Neil is doing a very impressive job at the moment for the Cherries.
5. Mason Mount vs Aston Villa
Not convinced this is anything more than an Emi Martinez howler, to go along with the Tyrone Mings howler, but I will include it to prove that I'm not completely biased. Had a lovely view from the Trinity Road Stand, anyway, as this FLOATED straight into the MIDDLE of the goal. Kepa would have saved it, anyway. That's all I'm saying.
6. Ivan Toney vs Brighton
Toney is on fire at the moment with eight goals in his last 10 games and a seat on the plane out to Qatar all but secured. There's some fantastic work down the wing from Bryan Mbuemo before the big man finishes it off in style with a flick through the legs of Adam Webster and into the net. Those flame emojis are well deserved.
7. Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg vs Everton
Look, it does take a little knick off Alex Iwobi but we're giving Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg the benefit of the doubt here and including this goal for the composure alone. More used to breaking up play than finishing off moves, the Dane takes his chance well to seal the three points for Spurs. Credit for the lung-busting run forward so late into the game, too.
