Premier League goals of the week - gameweek 23

Gameweek 23 is in the books now, and it featured a handful of strikes which will undoubtedly be in the conversation for goal of the season when the time comes.

Whether you wanted acrobatic strikes, long-range worldies or sumptuous set-piece routines, there really was something for everyone this week.

Let's take a look at some of the best.

1. Josh Sargent vs Watford

American import Josh Sargent hasn't had an easy start to life in the Premier League, but he put his issues to bed as Norwich saw off Watford on Friday evening.

In a 3-0 win, Sargent netted twice, the first of which was a glorious little scorpion kick which dropped over the line after clipping the crossbar.

His second was a thunderous header, but compared to his first strike, there was no competition.

2. Joao Moutinho vs Brentford

As well as some drone action, the Brentford Community Stadium saw some excellent goals on Saturday, starting off with this beauty from Joao Moutinho.

Some nice one-touch passing with Nelson Semedo gave Moutinho a route into the box, and with one touch to control the ball, the veteran midfielder unleashed a beautiful outside-of-the-boot curler to give Wolves the lead.

But 23 minutes later...

3. Ivan Toney vs Wolves

Brentford got themselves back into the game courtesy of this sweet strike from Ivan Toney.

Partner-in-crime Bryan Mbeumo whipped in a lovely free-kick towards the back post and Toney watched it every inch of the way, waiting for it to drop on to his boot.

A fizzing volley had spirits high once again, but it wouldn't last long.

4. Ruben Neves vs Brentford

Ruben Neves just had to one-up his mentor Moutinho with this strike from range to win the game.

Seven minutes after Toney's equaliser, Neves ran on to a pass on the edge of the Brentford box and, with two defenders charging at him, found the gap needed to smash the ball into the bottom corner.

What a day.

5. Kyle Walker-Peters vs Man City

As far as first Premier League goals go, they don't come much sweeter than this gem from Kyle Walker-Peters.

The marauding right-back took one touch to control a cut-back from Nathan Redmond, and stretched his leg out to bend a strike through two Man City defenders and past Ederson into the back of the Premier League leaders' net.

It wasn't enough to seal the three points for Southampton, but it was still the highlight of the match.

6. Hakim Ziyech vs Tottenham

We're ending with the pick of the bunch here. Take a bow, Hakim Ziyech.

The man known as The Wizard conjured up a real moment of magic for Chelsea against fierce rivals Tottenham, bending this absolutely sensational effort as far into the top corner as you could possibly imagine.

It was Ziyech's first Premier League goal at Stamford Bridge, and he'll do well to net a better one.
