The Canaries shrugged off the dismissal of top scorer Grant Holt for a poor challenge on Toumani Diagouraga to record a record-equalling 10th successive home win, with Chris Martin sliding home a 77th-minute winner after good work from substitute Oli Johnson.
But the Bees would have come away with some reward for their considerable efforts had an in-form Fraser Forster not made a string of excellent saves, the pick of them coming eight minutes from time to deny Kevin O'Connor.
Scott said: "The fact their goalkeeper was man of the match said it all.
"We created plenty of chances but we just couldn't get past him, he's a big lad and he just seems to save everything.
"The lads are very disappointed because we have already taken three points off Norwich once this season and we thought we could do it again but I can only praise the way we played. It was an excellent performance and showed the sort of progress we are making at this club."
