Brentford football club has revealed that negotiations are continuing with seven regular first team members who are currently out of contract.
Ibrahima Sonko, Stephen Hunt and Kevin O’Connor head the list of key personnel who have not yet resigned for next season.
The engaging Sonko, so impressive after signing on the eve of the last campaign, may feel he can play at a higher level, but it is to be hoped that manger Wally Downes, after recently managing to secure the services of fellow centre half Leo Roget, can persuade the Senegal Under 21 star to remain at Griffin Park for another twelve months at least.
Providing Roget and Sonko remain fit, the centre half pairing would surely be the equal of any in the Nationwide Second Division.
Meanwhile the hard working and creative Hunt, is bound to attract enormous interest should he feel his future lies away from Griffin Park .
The four remaining first team players who have yet to agree new deals are defenders, Scott Marshall and Matt Somner, together with the midfield duo of Jamie Fullarton and Jay Smith
