The manager told us yesterday that he is close to completing a number of deals although rumours seemed to have slowed down as to the identity of Allen's latest transfer targets, as he told the fans yesterday,
"Because the players we are looking at have some quality, they are much sought after by other clubs and it's not simply a question of getting the players here to sign a contract."
At the moment Allen has fifteen senior players on the books and as he felt the depth of the Brentford squad was lacking last season we are expected to see at least another three of four players being brought in a possibly some youth players being promoted.
Martin said he doesnt deal in 'if's an but's' however here at Brentford-mad we thought we'd take a look at the possible players he may bring in before 2005/06.
Sammy Igoe - After confirming to the local Swindon press last week that the Bees were interested Igoe is expected to confirm his future this week as he decides whether to accept another contract from the Robin's of leave the club with Brentford looking the most likely to sign him.
Juan Ugarte - After performing well last season for relegated Wrexham, the Spanish player is set to leave the club with Oldham reported to be interested, Brentford could however make a move for the player who is a proven player at this level to try and boost their flagging attack - the player though is reported to favour a move back to Spain.
Lloyd Owusu - The former Brentford player is still out of contract although Allen is thought to have an interest in the striker no deal has been offered or made yet according to his agent, there are other clubs interested the player so the Bees must act quickly if they aim to sign him.
Sam Sodje - Rumours liking the player with a move seemed to have settled down since West Ham's promotion and them offering Tomas Repka a new deal, Sodje claimed that Blackburn were also interested in him yet but no official contact has been made and the Nigerian looks set to stay on at the Bees.
Darren Pratley - After good performances last season with the Bees Pratley has been linked with a move back to the club next term, however this move was vetoed a couple of weeks ago as Chris Coleman announced the he believed Pratley was good enough to play in the Fulham first team. It is believed the boss will act after reviewing the midfielders pre season performance.
Paul Brooker - It was reported in the Reading Evening Post that the player was set for talks with Brentford boss at some point this week although we have no indication of whether these will take place of not. The winger would most likely be a replacement for John Salako and would be a great addition to the squad.
(Please remember these are JUST RUMOURS and they have nothing to do with me!!! Most of these transfers will probably never take place but it's good to speculate to accumilate!)
