After Sats game Steve Coppell said: "It has been a difficult week for Gavin. We have agreed a fee with Watford but they have said they don't want to sign him until Monday week.
"I rang him on Saturday morning, which is something I don't normally do with players, and he told me he was desperate to play against Notts County."
Paul Evans was disappointed with the pitch - he said "We are hopeful that it won't affect the pitch adversely. The pitch rates as good as any other we've played on this season and that is down to our groundsmen".
"We are just praying that playing rugby on the pitch won't make the task any harder for us than it already is."
He said: "We've got some tough games ahead but the promotion and play off situation is very open and we mustn't let up particularly with the teams in contention each playing one another."
Coppell was hoping for points this week at Oldham & Bristol City "The away form, I must admit, is concerning us, but I still believe that all our away matches are so close we could very easily turn defeats into victories.
"In our last seven away games we must have been in front in four of them and in two of those matches we have lost games against 10 men."
He added: "The difference is perhaps a little bit of belief, perhaps a little bit of good fortune and perhaps a lack of experience - only time will tell.
"We now have eight games in 24 days which will undoubtedly determine our future towards the end of the season."
