Brentford endured a disastrous night at Blackpool as a 2-1 defeat pushed them further away from a play-off place.
But, it was the manner of the defeat that annoyed manager Martin Allen.
He saw his side go two goals down within the first 15 minutes and during a break for treatment to an injured Blackpool player called his ten outfielders to the touchline to give them a dressing down in front of the main stand.
Whatever he said did not work as his side picked up a disgraceful tally of seven yellow cards and one red - Deon Burton being dismissed for a reckless challenge on home keeper Lee Jones late in the second half.
Blackpool went ahead in the seventh minute when midfielder Keith Southern picked up a lose clearance on the edge of the box and although his shot lacked power, it certainly had the accuracy to beat Stuart Nelson's dive.
In the 15th minute Southern added his second, bravely diving through a ruck of players to head home Keigan Parker's corner at the far post.
Blackpool relaxed but Brentford did not mount a realistic threat apart from the odd set-piece and chasing goalkeeper Nelson's giant clearances.
It was boring stuff for the small clutch of travelling fans who had to suffer and watch as indiscipline took over the Brentford's play and the bookings rained down.
Allen's side managed a late consolation goal when Darren Pratley picked up a lose clearance and smacked a lovely drive beyond Jones.
