Walker coasts through milestone
Walsall goalkeeper Jimmy Walker was barely troubled as he kept a clean sheet in his 530th league appearance for the Saddlers in a dire goalless draw at Brentford.
The veteran rescued the visitors late on as he was quick off his line to deny on-rushing Brentford striker Clayton Donaldson, who had raced on to a slide-rule throughball from Sam Saunders.
Brentford goalkeeper Simon Moore was the busier of the two, pulling off a fine save to deny Jon Macken's 25-yard goalbound drive just before the break.
Walker's only real action in a first half midfield battle came when he got down well to keep out Marcus Bean's low drive.
Donaldson thought he had earned his side a first-half penalty when last man Mat Sadler scythed him down, but referee Mark Brown waved away the home side's appeals.
Donaldson went close just before the break when his cross-shot was cleared off the goalline by Richard Taundry, while Alex Nicholls should have nicked the points for Walsall with five minutes remaining only to slice his effort wide.
