Bees sting late on to peg back Preston

Antonio German's late header rescued a point for Brentford in a 1-1 draw at Preston.

Scott Laird's effort just after the hour mark had looked set to hand North End all the points and send them above the Bees in the table but substitute German struck a minute from time as both sides remain unbeaten in six games.

Preston dominated the early exchanges and almost took the lead when Nicky Wroe's shot was turned away by Simon Moore, while Stuart Beavon was also denied by the goalkeeper with a close-range header after Lee Holmes' shot was blocked.

The remainder of the first half offered precious little in terms of goalscoring opportunities, but the home side did get the goal they deserved after 62 minutes as Laird acrobatically volleyed in after Chris Robertson's knockdown.

Wroe was denied twice more by Moore while Jeffrey Monakana also went close before German headed in Harlee Dean's cross from the left for the dramatic equaliser.
